Colorado National Monument

It is a semi-desert landscape of pinyon pines and Utah juniper; low-growing plants and wildflowers grace the area in spring. Camping and picnicking areas, self-guiding nature trails and longer hiking paths are available. Back-country camping requires a permit, available free at the visitor center.

Allow 2 hours, 30 minutes minimum. Daily 24 hours. Closed Christmas. Entrance fee (valid for 7 days) $20 per private vehicle, $15 per motorcycle or $10 per person arriving by other means. Camping $20. Phone (970) 858-3617.
