Cruising in 2025 will likely be defined by luxury, adventure and versatility with five new cruise ships set to enter service. All have sister ships currently sailing, making them a great choice for first-time cruisers and cruise enthusiasts who want new but reliable voyages.
For those seeking refined elegance, ships like Viking Vesta and Allura by Oceania Cruises set the standard. Viking Vesta offers adult-only cruises, promoting an intimate atmosphere full of gourmet cuisine and cultural enrichment, while Allura delivers a premium experience pairing destination immersion and world-class dining. Then there’s Celebrity Xcel, which offers an elevated retreat for all ages, but especially adults with an emphasis on spa treatments, sophisticated cuisine and craft cocktails.
Larger ships cater to a variety of travelers, and some of the bigger ones aim to please most guests, including singles. Star Princess appeals to solo travelers as well as couples and families, blending creativity with a touch of class. And much like its sister ship, Icon of the Seas, Royal Caribbean International’s Star of the Seas prioritizes family fun. The vessels, like Celebrity Xcel, ensure travelers of all ages and preferences can find their ideal mix of relaxation and exploration, making the ship itself the destination.
“One overall trend that the new Princess, Royal and Celebrity ships have is extensive areas exclusively for suite guests,” says Scott Campbell, Manager, Cruise Relations at AAA Inc., “These areas will have an exclusive sun/pool deck, lounge and restaurant just for guests sailing in a suite. It’s like a ship within a ship.”
According to Campbell, all types of cruisers, from families to couples, from those who want to fully immerse themselves in the destination to those who see the ship as the destination, from the most active to the most laid-back, can find something on board these new ships. And with itineraries ranging from the Mediterranean and sun-soaked Caribbean destinations, these five new ships in 2025 offer a lot to like.
