What to Do in Wilsons Creek National Battlefield

The battle of Wilson's Creek took place Aug. 10, 1861. Brig. Gen. Nathaniel Lyon was the first Union general to die in battle during the Civil War. A 5-mile, self-guiding driving tour passes eight wayside exhibits and 12 displays. A .6-mile hiking trail leads to Bloody Hill, the major battle site. The Ray House and Ray Springhouse have been restored to their 1861 appearance. Living-history programs are presented regularly on weekends from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
