What to Do in Rose Hall
Rose Hall was established in 1750 by George Ash, a wealthy Englishman who named his 6,600-acre (2,670-hectare) sugar plantation after his wife. The estate fell into ruin after the 1831 slave rebellion and was restored in the 1960s. Of the 700 great houses built on Jamaica in the 18th century, Rose Hall and neighboring Greenwood are two of the finest to survive.
