SCENIC BYWAY

Wolf Creek Pass Scenic Highway

A beautiful stretch of road running through the San Juan and Rio Grande national forests, US 160 treats sightseers to views of rugged mountains, lush alpine meadows and clear, fast-flowing streams. At Wolf Creek Pass the scenic highway crosses the Continental Divide at an elevation of 10,580 feet before descending into the San Luis Valley.

US 160 climbs into the San Juan Mountains, passing within sight of lovely Treasure Falls, which plummets 105 feet into a ravine. Farther east, signage at Wolf Creek Pass marks the route’s high point on the Continental Divide. A nearby ski area takes advantage of the pass’s heavy winter snowfall. The landscape flattens out again as the highway approaches Del Norte.
