SCENIC BYWAY

Moki Dugway Scenic HIghway

Salmon-colored spires stretch to the sky in enchanting sandstone clusters. Near the Valley of the Gods, on SR 261, this two-lane byway treks through stretches of rocky terrain. Goosenecks State Park, where the San Juan river cuts deep canyons in the multi-colored sandstone, is easily accessible on the southern end of the byway.

At the southern end of two-lane SR 261, lies the Valley of the Gods. The rocks stand guard over massive canyons and impressive formations, appearing to be gods looking down on their creations. These fascinating earth structures inspire imaginative names and beautiful artwork. Enjoy the stillness of the desert for the remainder of this scenic, yet isolated, byway.
