Grape Belt Scenic Thruway Road Trip

27.0 miles: 0 hours, 24 minutes

Grape Belt Scenic Thruway encompasses the 30-mile section of I-90 (Governor Thomas E. Dewey Thruway) between the Pennsylvania border and Dunkirk, N.Y. Tidy rows of grapevines stripe the terrain of the Grape Belt. This location near the shores of Lake Erie creates favorable conditions for vineyards. Trees are another dominant feature of the byway.

Grape Belt Scenic Thruway affords plentiful views of vineyards alongside I-90, a four-lane, divided highway; rows of grapevines extend far into the distance. Expansive fields include an occasional barn and silo dotting the landscape. Near the end of the byway you'll see Chautauqua County Fairgrounds and a small portion of The State University of New York at Fredonia.
