Bighorn and Buffalo Bill Cody Scenic Byway Road Trip

US 14 cuts across northeastern Wyoming's Bighorn and Shoshone national forests to the east entrance of Yellowstone National Park. Scenery is breathtaking and varied, from the rugged, red-hued canyons near Bighorn to the flat farmland and distant mountain peaks around Cody. Your trip ends at scenic Yellowstone Lake, which sits 7,733 feet above sea level.

This two-lane, east-west byway twists up and down mountainsides within Bighorn and Shoshone national forests, providing expansive views for miles around. Shell Canyon carves a wide, grassy berth in the mountains, while rocky cliffs create a dramatic setting at Buffalo Bill Reservoir. The road is subject to seasonal closures near Yellowstone National Park.
