Luxury abounds at the historic hotel, originally built in the early 1900's. You'll find marble floors throughout, original commissioned artwork, spacious well-appointed rooms and a rooftop pool. Most units have walk-in showers featuring temperature controlled shower heads. Smoke free premises. 207 units, some efficiencies. 7 stories, interior corridors. Bath: shower only. The customer service is horrible. Besides the lady who checked us in when we arrived (she outshined everyone else by a long shot), none of the rest were worth hiring. Your mere presence seems to be a nuisance to them. And the valet attendant with the dreads, pitiful. He was sitting on the bench with his back turned away from oncoming guest who pulls up. He could have cared less that we drove up. I had to ask if he was on duty. Horrible attitude. It’s obvious this is hotel is run by some venture capitalist who only cares about the bottom line and not the quality of service they provide. The hotel is actually nice, but the staffing, something else. And it is not 24 hr. staffed. There was no one at the desk from about 1 - 5 am at least. If they were there, they were getting paid for something other than work. I was trying to get additional towels for showering and coffee cups, which we didn’t have in our room. I have come to expect poor service, which I have experienced this level at a hotel claiming to be 4 star, but this was on another level. Their demeanor really stuck out at this one. There are too many other places who would be glad to have my money. A simple suggestion, get your staff some customer service training and oversight to ensure it’s being followed. Until then, I won’t be back!!!
