AAA Diamond Inspector Notes
This property consists of three lodging facilities. Complimentary coffee and delicious home-baked muffins and sweet rolls are served each morning. It's worth a visit for those alone. The Historic Inn is the main building that welcomes guests and also houses the restaurants and bake shoppe. It's rooms have a historic vibe featuring a New England-style décor with floral wall and colorful wood finishes and historic furnishings. The Country Lodge looks like a typical motel from the outside, but inside it has a residential, old-fashioned charm featuring toile-style wallpaper and traditional furnishings; these rooms are spacious. The Chamberlain House, the newer expanded and renovated building, features guest rooms and suites. These rooms blend classic and modern design with plush comforts. All guest rooms are lovely and have their own unique charms. Smoke free premises. 125 units. 2-3 stories (no elevator), interior/exterior corridors. Accessibility (Call).

The location is great. The room in the motel block was ok, the wallpaper of arrows and killing animals and people was a turn off. It needs to be replaced. The bathroom was old. The view from the room was good. The complimentary bakery item was a joke, none of the items were healthy and I ended up choosing a blueberry muffin which was miniscule. I find this to be disrespectful of the lodgers. I checked out the patio for dining but decided to have my dinner at a local seafood restaurant, which I totally enjoyed. I may not hurry back to Publick House.
This is not a handicap accesible facility...there are alot of stairs if in the original building and no way to get to the bakery shoppe (where they do have yummy breakfast rolls, etc) unless you go outside and around to the back...so those of you using canes or struggle with walking-be aware! Also the bed was very high up to climb into, and it was on some type of suspension and it constantly moved when you move. The TV in our room had some weird lights coming through the screen...also some stations had no sound. The restaurant closes at 7pm, so if you are planning a dinner-you must go early or elsewhere. The weather was perfect and the grounds of the hotel are beautiful and yes it is very clean inside, some of it dated, but that's the charm of a rustic historic Inn.

Excellent value. I rented my rooms very ecomically and loved access to both their dining rooms and bakery.
Convenient, quiet room, great restaurant on location. Continental breakfast. Competitive prices.
