Marriott Jacksonville Downtown

This hotel is in downtown a block or two from the river and across the street from the concert hall. On concert nights the parking lot and Courtyard restaurant are busy. Most nights it was very quiet. The restaurant was good, and the service good, however there were only a handful of customers in the restaurant at the time. My server was very good. I had the blackened mahi-mahi, and it was very good. When I booked through AAA I apparently did not qualify for the free breakfast buffet at the restaurant. Coffee was free and included with the room, otherwise breakfast was the typical expensive hotel restaurant prices. I had some time to kill and would have enjoyed a place to sit outside to sit in the sun and read a book. The pool area was closed for some sort of maintenance. There were no benches or chairs outside anyway to sit and enjoy the sun. I can only suspect it was to prevent homeless street people from hanging out in them. There were benches down on the Riverwalk, but was several blocks from the hotel - farther than normal due to big construction project there. One needs to use their room key anytime they use the elevator. I understand it for security reasons, however it does become cumbersome at times. I liked the shower. Lots of water pressure and no waiting for hot water. I used the in-room coffee and the iron and ironing board while I was there. Both worked fine.
