Hyatt Place Colorado Springs/Garden of the Gods

Room and beds comfortable, but extremely noisy being so close to I-25

Nice and clean hotel. Very friendly staff. The bed was terrible on my back and I had to sleep on the couch for back support. One elevator was out of order most of our stay. Great location to get to most of our desired sightseeing locations.

While the view from our room was beautiful, that’s about the only good thing to come out of this disappointing stay. Upon check in, there were some very shady characters who came in the hotel from the back entrance, one of whom got on the elevator with us as the door was closing. He exited after us on the same floor and followed us and we had to walk past our room. We had multiple encounters with him and it was terribly uncomfortable and I don’t usually have issue with anyone whatsoever. When I called for toothpaste because we had forgotten ours, we were told they were sorry but they had none and they had told management “a while ago” they needed to get some. The room itself was dingy and dark and had a musty smell. The bathroom light was a very dull yellow to clearly hide the dirt, but also made it impossible to see anything. When taking a shower, we had to run the water for about 10 minutes before it got warm at all. Throughout the evening, we would get wafts of cigarette smoke through the air vents and it was unbearable. We would have asked to change rooms, but upon arrival we were told the entire hotel was booked solid. The next morning before checkout, we went down for breakfast- saw our “friend” again - but the food was not great either. The eggs were dry and crumbly and the waffles were hard as rocks and didn’t taste like waffles at all. The orange juice was orange flavored water, it was just awful. The staff personalities were pleasant at least, so there was that, but overall, we were not impressed with the hotel. If we ever make it back to Colorado Springs, we will find another hotel.
