Hyatt Centric Beale Street Memphis

The hotel location was excellent to Beale Street. Open lobby, good bars (one downstairs and one upstairs). While sitting at the upstairs bar, one of the bartenders seemed to be training 2 other bartenders. The problem was while the instructor bartender was watching the other two make drinks he was making faces like he didn't approve. We felt this wasn't professional and should have been discussed with the new ones on the side not made obvious to customers. Breakfasts were convenient right at the hotel but maybe a little more selections would have been nice. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful whenever we had questions about locations or suggested places to see. Out of 4 nights, one day our room had not been cleaned. We had to call down for fresh towels which were brought up promptly but other than that the room was cleaned fresh daily.

On the second day of my stay, a Hyatt employee requested to search me in the hotel lobby. There was nothing on my person except my clothes and nothing in my bag but wallet and cosmetics. I was told no explanation. Thankfully, he did not attempt to detain me. I am a 72 year old retired teacher who has traveled widely through US and Europe and have never had anything like this happen to me at any other hotel. This experience completely ruined my stay.

The location was perfect. We could walk everywhere. There is construction on a new parking garage which has the street closed at the hotel. Wasn’t very happy with house keeping. Our room wasn’t made up on a daily basis and had to request body wash several times. Took matters into my own hands and got some from house keeping two days later. The bar on the top floor served awesome drinks. However it closed at 10pm on a Thursday night. We ordered our drinks at 9:40 and five minutes later we’re told the bar was closing at 10.
