The concierge, the bell staff and customer service were friendly and courteous. The location of the hotel did not feel safe outside. Hotel room rates should be more competitive (especially for loyalty members) with similar hotel chains in the same area. The cafe was a bit expensive for grab and go snacks. The hotel ambiance was very loud, possibly due to the bar being at the entrance (not ideal for families with young children).
Pros - Good walking distance to some local places in town, almost center of the peninsula gives you equal distance to both east and west attractions if you are driving or taking a rideshare. Great view from the windows. Comfy beds! Good TV choices. No complaints about other guests. Clean hotel. Cons - Window wasn't sealed properly, wind caused a intermittent whistle when the wind blew against the building and I had to fix it myself by propping it closed with a plastic knife and napkin. Some staff didn't explain the San Francisco $25/day hotel tax and credit system (did we have it, did we not?) which led to a lot of confusion and a discussion that went around in circles and frustrating experience. Daily parking charges are absurd at over $60/day for garage access - which I get is at most hotels but that is reallly up there for literally the last parking spot. Several people circled and ultimately left, I'm hoping they didn't pay for parking as well. Lady in the Herb n' Kitchen was reallly rude to the guests in line. Overall - The room (minus the window problem) was actually very decent. Only one good experience with the hotel staff and that was the guy who brought up my utensils for dinner (super nice!), but nearly all other were very rude. I'd rather stay at a hotel a little further away if I'm driving to save on the crazy surcharges, taxes, and parking charges if I'm driving myself. Despite all this I actually slept very well and the room was clean, shower worked wonderful. If it was my only option I'd stay again, but if I return I'm looking at other places FIRST.
The windows to look outside were very dirty, so I cannot see the beautiful city from my room. The desk had not been cleaned because you could see the ring from were a cup had been sitting there.
