Our stay at the Hilton Garden Inn at Montebello started off on a sour note. We had received an email from the property the week before our stay asking us if we wanted to upgrade to a golf course view. We accepted the offer of the upgrade for a small cost. Upon check in, we learned that not only were we not getting the golf course view, but were right on the pool deck. The window from our room to the pool deck opened (which is nice for fresh air), but would not lock. We reported this to the front desk and went out eat. When we came back we were told that it had been remedied. The “fix” was to lock the window permanently. The next day we went out to sight see. When we returned we found our bath mat soaking wet and water dripping from the bathroom light fixture. We closed our window shade to keep people who were actively looking into our room from the pool deck, and went to sleep. The next morning the bathroom light did not function at all. Again we went out to sightsee and reported the bathroom light issue and window not opening to the front desk. Upon our return, we were told that both had been remedied. Our window still didn’t open and the bathroom light flickered for the remainder of our stay. We had housekeeping service our room one time. When we returned, we had to go to the front desk to get towels, coffee, and soap for the shower - the things that should have been replaced when they provided the service. The pool is supposed to close at 10, but people were noisy and used it well past that time. The next evening we tried to spend some time enjoying the pool. It was impossible. A huge family had taken it over and made us feel like we were intruding on their party. They used all of the towels and then complained that we got the floor wet. Then, with about 6 or 7 kids right at the pool, they lit up their weed. We left and mentioned it to the front desk crew. They just looked at us. I guess I just expected more from a Hilton property.

Customer service was incredible and the room itself was spotless. I loved having a fridge and a microwave in the room, and I also liked that the location felt removed from the bustle of the rest of the city! Really the only mild complaints I had were that I could hear every conversation that went on in the hall outside, and that you might have to walk a long way to get from your parking spot to the hotel. Again, those complaints are very mild and did not detract from the overall stay. Would definitely book again!
Loved that the hotel was located in the middle of a golf course, the rooms were updated, clean and comfortable. Tha staff was great! And the outdoor patio was situated near the course with a great view. The Bar and resturant were reasonably priced though the menu was limited (we loved their Cobb salad!) Overall we had a four star experience at what was rated a three star hotel, a true hidden gem! This will be our hotel of choice when we are back that way again!
