You Asked. This was the worst experience I have ever had for a stay at a Hampton Inn & Suites or any hotel. I tried something new and booked using AAA Travel who without my knowing used Expedia. I showed up to a hotel under construction and was given a room that should have been off limits for a stay. Demolition status to say the least. I honestly thought I was being punked so I tried to call the front desk. Room phones not working so now yep there has to be cameras in here waiting my reaction. So I call the hotel from my cell phone and proceed to take pictures and take video. I was told by the front desk there were no other rooms as they were booked. This is when I cried as there was no way I could not and would not stay in this room. No human should have to and I have asthma so it was my health first. The front desk offered to send up room service ok but unless they came with a construction company there was no way to improve. Room service came and although they spoke no English I understood some and they were shocked and called their manager who came to see the room and was shocked as well I was put there and called down to hotel management and asked me to call as well which I did for a 2nd or 3rd time from my cell phone. Hotel manager, Joseph I think, comes to the room. Crowded room at this point but the manager proceeds to not apologize but over explain the logistics of each of the room flaws and the hotel being under construction, I was prepaid through Expedia and their hands were tied. Manager offered to upgrade me to a suite which was the only room open none in the class I paid for but as far as how much this upgrade would cost me I would need to call Expedia as he continues to tell me while using 3rd party sites to book can be cheaper it’s not good when something goes wrong etc. I did mention that I was a Hilton honors member regardless of how I booked but was told this facility did not connect with that. Now I prepaid over $800 for a 3 night stay and was not interested in paying anymore and was told my only option was to contact Expedia as they would be charging me for the upgrade not the hotel. Huh ok I don’t understand this but will do as told since it’s the only option. And I needed to decide if I wanted the upgraded suite quickly as rooms were going fast. So this was not a courtesy upgrade, I would not be compensated at all for my mental trauma at this point but just a paid upgrade I needed to pay for…but no clue how much more. Now mind you I am confused because I do not remember using Expedia. So now I am literally in tears in the hotel lobby with all my luggage searching for my reservation with Expedia. I call Expedia with no luck finally remember it had to be Costco or AAA travel I used. Finally find an email and called AAA thank God I am finally getting somewhere. Finally AAA customer service transfers me to the right place. Here it is explained to me that AAA uses Expedia to find the best prices, apologizes I am almost homeless hours away from home and she starts working on my behalf with Expedia to resolve while I hold. I was on hold while AAA, Expedia and the hotel conversed to help with a favorable outcome. Final decision I can take the upgrade for a very small fee. Yes lord prayer works. Suite keys provided and after about 3 hours after initial check in I am in the suite. The nightmare does not end here (suite pictures and video available) the suite is much better than the under construction room but is unclean/neglected maybe no one deep cleaned after renovation. It was extremely dusty I mean thick dust and paint splatter on furniture like not covered during a painting job, dirty carpet, tables and a broken toilet seat even found a long blonde hair strand on the couch so I dared not open the couch at all during the entire stay Now I mentioned above I have asthma. Dust is a no can do could easily land me in the hospital. Now I am tired, hungry, mentally overwhelmed and having to call back down to the front desk. Guess what…suite phones also do not work so using my cell phone again calling the hotel outside line for option 4 if I remember correctly to ask for room service to clean. Front desk answers and informs me pleasantly, kind toned, professional, apologetically the Room service staff has left for the day but someone else would be in soon and they would send up to clean. After a hour or 2 I go downstairs on my way out for food to inquire about the promised cleaning and was told the guy was handling a food spill in the back office at the time but would be there. Ok please tell him to let hisself in if I am not back from my walk across the street for a food order pick up. Return go upstairs to the room no one has come to clean. Call again from my phone received an apology seems they are locked out of the cleaning supply room and has no supplies to handle the clean. At this point I offer to clean myself explain I have to remove the dust but don’t even have paper towels in the room to try. Very Nice young lady at the front desk Caitlyn maybe sorry it’s been over a week at this point and I have tried to forget this nightmare but anyways she offers to come up see what she can do. She comes up with a blue stained towel and a spray bottle of something. Ok anything will due at this point and she wipes down everything for me and explains some things about staining in the rub dirty couch broken phones etc. Ok I still need a good vacuuming and cleaning so I ask if I can please be put on the list for room service first thing the next morning and was promised this would happen. Next day I am out of the room very early have breakfast in the lobby, not good at all so I don’t bother the next two days. The tea I made was good. Ok so out of the room all day returning Saturday evening. Oh did I mention I visited RI for my daughter graduation from Brown University proud mom experience interrupted by this mess smh. Rewind return Saturday evening to a room untouched but the toilet seat was fixed. Call the front desk apologies new wash cloth and towels brought up with another promise for cleaning Sunday morning. Out very early again Sunday morning out all day return that evening yep you guessed no room Service. No answer at the front desk from my cell phone but it’s late maybe short staffed went for smoke etc so I go downstairs to another kind and pleasant front desk attendant very apologetic hands me new towels and wash clothes and tells me I can put the stack of dirty ones and my trash in the hallway to get out the way. Oh boy what a time. The next morning at check out I ask for the manager Joseph again I think. He again give lots of excuses telling me he is an asthmatic as well etc but no ownership and offers 5000 honor points as this is the most he can give and again compensation is not an option since I prepaid and used Expedia, expedia mention again as if a crime OVER IT the attitude of how dare you use a 3rd party booking and expect good service. In conclusion my bad for using a 3rd party for booking but this hotel management needs training big time. At the end of the day my money is the same green as a customer using the hotels booking directly and the staffs words of apology and pleasantries mean nothing without action. I felt like I was being punished for booking wrong then patronized with words of telling me what they thought I wanted to hear but doing nothing. 3 nights 4 days no room Service even when requested each night, no trash removal, new towels, more tissue paper yes I ran out on day 3 . No cleaning of toilet and tub used each day, twice. No beds made up or sheet changes. No day there where I did not need to speak with the staff via my cell phone or going down to the front desk. I stay at enough Hampton Inn & Suites to know that room service is by request especially for short stays but I requested over and over again. I was pleasant not irate understanding with no results. Please I beg do not include this Hotel for your customers I don’t wish this experience on my worst enemy and each day I had Faith it would get better and it did not. $800 plus gone to stay in a homeless shelter like experience. Hilton should be ashamed of themselves to have their name associated with such a horrible establishment. The staff knows what to say but has no clue have to give results. Nightmare horrible. I will certainly never rely on bookings outside the actual establishment and will be weary of ever staying at another Hampton Inn and Suites new. Old, renovated or under construction. Never perfect stays but it has never been this bad. Pictures and video by request unable to fit in the upload provided
Hello, First of all congratulations on your daughter’s graduation from Brown. We are deeply disappointed in your experience. Please send the videos to cnardozza@aaanortheast.com. We will follow up on your behalf. Thank you for the thorough review as this will help other members as they make hotel decisions. Best, Chuck
The room was very nice and comfortable. The staff was friendly. Some minor things in the common areas felt run down but I understand that is due to how many people use the hotel.
Good location- so close to the airport. Safe. Friendly staff. Breakfast was fine. But the rooms leave a lot to be desired. While clean, they were decidedly run down. Wall mounted tables hanging loose from their moorings. Bathroom barn doors that do not close. Facility needs a refresh.
Hi, We are happy to see you had a pleasant stay. Regards, Chuck
Should be ZERO stars. Dirty, door fell of hinge, smoke smell over compensated with some sort of freshener ugh. Reserved 3 months in advance for 2 queen beds got 1 king bed. Notified prior we would be late check in due to air travel. If it wasn’t 3 am would have left sooner. Cancelled reservation for return trip home.
