Americas Best Value Inn Effingham

Overall, the Ramada was ok. The breakfast area in the morning was warm and inviting. Families were eating breakfast, and cheerfully discussing the days events. However, the state of our hotel room the night before put a damper on our whole stay and made it hard to relax and enjoy the evening. Upon arrival, we found ***** matter in the bathroom toilet, mold on the shower curtain, and hair and food residue in the sink drain. The carpet near the door was heavily stained and the hallway was in great need of vacuuming. The side entrance smelled of smoke although it was clearly labeled a no smoking facility. The staff sat around smoking outside and would come inside when someone came to the front desk, then resumed lounging outside after. I was told I could smoke weed if I wanted but to step away from the building. I don’t know why she assumed I needed to know that. I’m from a state where weed is not legal so it was a bit surprising, but made sense considering the state of the staff. Even in the morning they were still outside smoking. Overall, I think I can confidently say I won’t be back, nor can I in good conscience recommend this location.
