AAA Diamond Inspector Notes
A stylish industrial theme adorns this modern hotel, located at the doorstep of the Durham Performing Arts Center and just steps from the Bulls' ballpark and American Tobacco Campus. Dozens of downtown restaurants and nightlife spots are a short walk away. Rooms have platform beds with plump duvets and ample pillows, and the large windows afford lots of natural light and city views. Most bathrooms are shower-only. Bathtubs are found in a handful of accessible rooms only. A grab-and-go market in the lobby offers snacks all day and light fare for breakfast. The lobby lounge, with a billiards table and dual-sided fireplace that opens to the front patio, is the setting for unwinding in the evenings. Smoke free premises. 134 units. 6 stories, interior corridors. Accessibility (Call).

If you're attending an event at DPAC, this is a very convenient place to stay. My room was clean and it was quiet on my floor, so I got a good night's rest after attending a show at DPAC. My only complaint is that I had parked in the East Deck and paid the parking attendant $10. I told him I was staying at the Aloft Hotel. I proceeded to check in at Aloft, and told the clerk I had paid the parking attendant $10. I had no receipt because I didn't know I would need one. The clerk told me about the $15 parking charge and gave me a pass to put on my car's dash. I returned to the deck to put the pass in my car. When I checked out the next morning, a different clerk mentioned the $15 parking charge, I had to repeat my story to her. I thought the evening clerk had made an adjustment to my bill, but he did not. So, the message is: check in to the hotel and get your parking pass before you proceed to the parking deck. I paid twice for parking.
