Thank you for your 4-star review!
The hotel was clean, big and located in an area that I felt was close enough to what I wanted to see. I booked this place because it is dog friendly and because it stated they had EV chargers. Unfortunately I was disappointed with the service in regards to the EV charging. I called and spoke to 2 different individuals asking them about their parking and EV charging ability, I was informed it's complimentary for the charging and that it has to be done through valet which is an additional fee. That was fine with me. I asked them twice about anything other details with EV charging but all they could say is that it's complimentary. When I arrived around 5pm, I valeted my car and informed them that I only had 10% and that I don't need it charged right away, it could stay at that percentage for a few days without being drained if I don't use but I was planning on doing a long trip in the morning, so if at any point that night, they could plug it in, it would be ideal. I went out walking with my pup, had dinner, and around 10p, I just stopped by valet to ask if they would be able to charge the car at all. I mentioned that I know most hotels only have 1 or 2 chargers but that they usually have the contact info of the drivers to call and request to move them after it's done charging or if it's valet that they move it after it's done charging. The person was on the phone with someone at the garage and they told him yes. That was all, they didn't relay any other details to me. Well I was up between 5-6am and checked to see if it had been charged and it was not. I called the front desk to ask and then at this time, they finally said it's first come, first serve for charging. After the calls that I made, the gentlemen that I spoke with in person twice, not once was this information relayed. I informed the desk that had that information been provided I would've chosen a completely different hotel. I charged my car for a much cheaper price and even got parking at the garage on the side street for $10 which was all less than the valet charge. I would've picked a completely different hotel that was also pet friendly and could've actually offered me the other important service I wanted. Since I didn't want to have to move hotels for the additional night, I stayed but did not valet the car the second night. I like the hotel, part of my summer trip entails finding dog friendly and EV capable hotels, I've been on the road almost 1 month and the lack of details to the parking was not up to par with other places I've stayed it. For this reason I took 1 star off. It really was unfortunate to find out this information as I try to make my stays as convenient as possible and this was the not the case for the first night. Even though using gas cars can save on the parking by using Spot hero to find garages within walking distance. I felt like the EV charging capability is somewhat false advertisement if the details are not made loud and clear on their website. I actually compared the prices with their site, AAA and booking and other third parties before booking it using my AAA account. Not once in any of those sites did they disclose any additional EV details (how many chargers are available, the type etc) I had to do research on it and from previous reviews figured out it was a Tesla which is why I also opted for them. With the volume of EV cars now on the road, I think it would be helpful to be more transparent on the facilities actual capability to offer a service they list on their site.
Hi, We are happy to see you had a 4-star stay despite the challenges you noted regarding charging and the lack of communication. Regards, Chuck
Clean room but fridge did not work and no conditioner in shower
Hello , As a member service organization your feedback is valuable. We appreciate you taking the time to share insights with us.
The room wasn’t ready till 5:30 so we had to wait in the lobby an hour. The tv didn’t work. A guy came to work on it but couldn’t get it to work either. He was very apologetic and said he was going to speak to the front desk about reducing our rate. This did not happen. The hotel was noisy till after midnight.
Hello. Thank you very much for taking the time to leave a review about your recent stay at Aloft Columbia Harbison a Marriott Hotel. We’re sorry that your experience did not match your expectations. Your feedback will help other travelers as they make informed booking decisions.
The pictures make you feel like your going to a luxury hotel but it’s kinda run down. The excitement wore off rather quickly. Tape over the fire place and rooms that are meh at best. I guess because they have a bad and high priced grab n go food they don’t have microwaves. The bathrooms have sliding barn style doors which do not offer privacy for a family of 4. You can see straight to the shower one way and through the mirror the opposite way walking by so we had to be careful or leave the room while dressing and bathing. For the cost we should have stayed at the Holiday Inn Express literally in their front yard. At least we would have had free breakfast and microwaves. The housekeepers we’re especially nice though and they seemed to appreciate their jobs. Other than that it’s a room lol. I won’t be going back but Good luck!
