What to Do in Hayward

East of Hayward, the vast Chippewa Flowage spreads out over 15,300 acres. Created in 1924 as part of a hydropower project, the reservoir—affectionately called “The Big Chip”—is Wisconsin's third largest lake. It boasts an irregular, 233-mile wooded shoreline and 200 undeveloped islands. Visitors come mainly to enjoy the natural scenery and the fishing; the lake is particularly known for its record-breaking muskellunge.
