What to Do in Concord
In 1775, disagreeing German and Scot-Irish residents of Cabarrus County finally decided on the location of the county seat. They named the site Concord (reflecting harmony), and the main thoroughfare was called Union Street in honor of the compromise that settled the issue. A memorial garden on Spring Street between Cabarrus and Corban avenues contains the graves of many Concord founders.
