Perched on the southernmost tip of Argentina, Ushuaia Cruise Port is the gateway to the wild Patagonian landscapes of Tierra del Fuego National Park, as well as the start and end point for cruises to Antarctica and the Falkland Islands. Use the port as a jumping-off point for animal experiences, boat rides, and more.
Most visitors to Ushuaia head out to explore the surrounding mountains, forests, and lakes, and there are numerous options for shore excursions. Take a cruise along the Beagle Channel to Martillo Island, known for its colonies of Papuas and Magellanic penguins; or discover Tierra del Fuego National Park, where activities include hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, or a ride on the “Train to the End of the World” steam train.
In Ushuaia itself, most of the sights are clustered around the central boulevard of San Martin, including the Maritime Museum, the End of the World Museum, and the “End of the World” sign.
Ushuaia Cruise Port offers shops, internet, and tourist information kiosks.
Shore excursions typically include port pickup and drop-off.
Temperatures in Ushuaia are cool all year round and can drop below freezing in winter, so pack accordingly and prepare for changeable weather.
Taxis are available from outside the cruise terminal.
Ships dock in the heart of Ushuaia and the downtown is within walking distance of the port. Taxis are also available to take you farther afield, but most cruise visitors opt to explore as part of a shore excursion with round-trip transportation included.
The official language is Spanish, but it is common to hear English, German, and Portuguese as well. The currency is the Argentine peso. ATMs are widely available and credit cards should be accepted in most places.
