POINT OF INTEREST

Truist Field

324 S Mint St, Charlotte, North Carolina

Formerly BB&T Ballpark, Charlotte’s Truist Field is one of the best minor-league baseball stadiums in the U.S. Home to the Charlotte Knights, a Triple-A Minor League Baseball team in the International League, the stadium sports some 10,000 seats—both VIP and otherwise—and a hitter-friendly status. With excellent views of the game and the skyline, it’s a fun evening out.

Truist Field is a league favorite for a number of reasons, but what strikes most first-time visitors is the skyline views of Uptown Charlotte—the open-air stadium is right in the thick of city action. For baseball fans, Truist offers great sightlines (nearly every seat is a good one), a two-level club, endless North Carolina barbecue and burgers and beers, plus a Hall of Fame Rotunda. Beyond Knights games, the stadium hosts the occasional Chicago White Sox exhibition game and minor-league championships, plus off-season events like concerts and holiday festivities.

Though Truist Field may seem entirely modern, it’s a common stop on historic city tours of Charlotte, as the Queen City has forever loved its sports scene.

  • Ask at the ticket window about accessible seating—it can be reserved before the game.

  • No outside food or drinks are allowed inside the stadium, and bags must be 14” x 14” x 6” (35 x 35 x 15 centimeters) or smaller.

  • In the event of rain, check the Knights’ social media pages for updates.

  • Gates open about 1 hour before game time.

If you’re driving, Uptown Charlotte is loaded with paid parking garages—you can even pre-pay and reserve a parking space in the Mint Street Parking Garage by reserving online. Otherwise, avoid the parking hassles by riding the Charlotte LYNX Gold Line to Tyron St. The stadium is just a few minutes’ walk from there.

The Knights’ season typically begins in April and runs through the summer. Games are played almost every night of the week, starting around 6:30 p.m. Try to get to the stadium about 30 minutes early to navigate parking, find your seats, and hit the concession stands.

For sports fans, Uptown Charlotte can’t be beat—this neighborhood alone has three major sports venues; along with Truist Field, there’s Bank of America Stadium, home to the NFL’s Carolina Panthers, and Spectrum Center, home to the Charlotte Hornets (NBA). What’s more, across the street from Truist Field is Green’s Lunch, a spot that’s been serving up hot dogs for more than 100 years. Talk about a ready-made itinerary.
