POINT OF INTEREST

Temaiken Biopark

Ruta 25 Km 1, Belén de Escobar, Buenos Aires

At Temaiken Biopark—the only AZA accredited zoo in Argentina—more than 7,400 animals representing 300 different species live in enclosures that represent their natural habitats. Unlike traditional zoos, there are no bars or cages between you and the animals, only natural barriers such as moats or hedges.

Highlights of Temaiken Biopark include an aquarium that represents three Argentine ecosystems, a farm that offers interactive activities such as milking cows and brushing goats, the largest bird house in South America, and a 360-degree movie theater. Save time waiting on the day by booking a skip-the-line admission ticket or avoid the hassle of arranging your own transport with a package that includes round-trip transfers from Buenos Aires. Some packages also include a boat ride on the Tigre Delta.

  • Temaiken Biopark is completely barrier-free and an easy place to explore in both wheelchairs and strollers.
  • Inside the park you’ll find several cafes, restaurants, and snack kiosks, in addition to public restrooms.
  • The park is dedicated to conserving endangered species and has a volunteer programme; if you’re interested, ask for more information during your visit.

Temaiken Biopark is located in the town of Belen de Escobar, which is a 45-minute drive from central Buenos Aires via RN9. No public transport services the park so the most convenient and cost-effective option is to book an admission ticket that includes transfers.

Temaiken Biopark is open from Wednesday to Sunday, from mid-morning until early evening. To avoid peak crowds, visit the park during the week or outside of Argentina’s summer holidays, in December and January.

Temaiken Biopark isn’t the only attraction in Belen de Escobar, which serves as a great location for families and nature lovers. Top picks include Euca Tigre–an adventure park with suspended walkways and ziplines–and Japones de Escobar Garden–designed according to traditional Japanese horticultural principles.
