Sunset Cliffs Natural Park comprises 68 acres (28 hectares) of coastal bluffs, sea caves, and arches along the Pacific Coast on the western edge of Point Loma. True to its name, the park is a popular spot for watching the sunset. It's also popular among surfers who come to ride the shoreline's crashing waves.
Sunset Cliffs Natural Park boasts some of the best Pacific Ocean views in the area, whether you’re walking the network of nature trails along the cliffs and through the coastal scrub, or taking a leisurely drive along Sunset Cliffs Boulevard. To see the area with a guide, consider a guided Segway tour along the clifftop trails—these tours typically include stops at Ocean Beach and the Sunset Cliffs neighborhood as well.

Sunset is the most popular time to visit the park, but the park offers pretty views at all hours of the day. Visit from mid-Dec. through Apr. for the chance to spot migrating gray whales from the cliffs.
The Sunset Cliffs area has a couple of sandy beaches that are worth checking out when you’re in the area. The easiest to access is at the end of Sunset Cliffs Boulevard at Ladera Street. Look for the staircase leading down to an area popular with surfers. Another beach at the beginning of Cordova Street is popular with locals.
