Splendid China Folk Village

Shenzhen’s Splendid China Folk Village theme park comprises an array of miniature replicas of China’s most famous landmarks, each about one-fifteenth the size of its real-life counterpart. Among the famous sights depicted are the Terracotta Army, Great Wall of China, Forbidden City, Summer Palace, West Lake, and a mini Li River.
A visit to Splendid China is like touring the vast country in a couple of hours—a somewhat kitschy yet fun option for those with limited time in the country. The park is laid out as a map of China, with more than 80 landmarks spread throughout. Visitors can walk from one miniature scene to the next or ride the miniature tourist train that takes guests around the park. The Folk Culture Village regularly hosts live folk performances.
Splendid China is a popular attraction among families traveling with kids.
Wear comfortable walking shoes; the park is quite large at 74 acres (30 hectares).
Don’t forget your camera, as the miniatures make for great photo ops.
Bring along sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat, as much of the park lacks shade.
Splendid China is situated by Shenzhen Bay in Overseas Chinese Town (OCT). It is around a 40-minute Shenzhen Metro (line 1) ride from Luohu Station to the OCT stop; take exit D on arrival at the station. Alternatively, it’s a 30-minute bus ride.
Splendid China is open daily from 9am to 9pm, but the last entry is several hours before closing time. Avoid visiting on weekends and national holidays, when the park can get crowded with Chinese visitors.
Splendid China is near two other family-friendly attractions in the city, Happy Valley Shenzhen theme park and Window of the World, a similar park with miniatures of monuments around the world located just across the street.
