POINT OF INTEREST

Siloso Beach

Sentosa Island, Singapore

Siloso Beach is the liveliest beach on Sentosa Island, where Singapore goes to play. It offers beach clubs, restaurants, and parties in season. For more thrills and spills, hit the iFly Singapore indoor skydiving tunnel or Skypark Sentosa by AJ Hackett, home to a sky bridge, a giant swing, and a 165-foot (50-meter) bungee jump.

Although the beach’s northern end is reserved for guests of the Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa hotel, there are more ways to experience Siloso Beach than by lounging poolside. Water sports range from kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) to banana boat rides, while the bungee jump draws thrill-seekers. You can also see the beach from the water on a sunset dinner cruise, party at the ZoukOut dance music festival, or chill by the pool at different beach clubs.

  • Siloso Beach is a great choice for party people, thrill-seekers, and families with teens.

  • Entry to Siloso Beach is free.

  • Singapore has the death penalty for drug smuggling and harsh penalties for possession.

  • Book ahead if you’re planning to eat or enjoy a beach club at weekends or over public holidays.

  • A flat, wheelchair-friendly walkway links all three of Sentosa Island’s beaches. However, there are no beach wheelchairs on offer, so the sands are not accessible.

The northernmost of Sentosa’s three main beaches, Siloso Beach sits on the island’s west coast, north of Palawan Beach. You can explore Sentosa Island on foot, by bicycle, or on public transit. On the Sentosa Express, alight at Beach Station at the south end of Siloso Beach or ride bus A, bus C, or the multi-stop beach shuttle to Siloso Point at the north end.

As you’d expect from Singapore’s playground, Sentosa Island is busiest at weekends; Saturday night is the liveliest night for socializing. If attractions are on your agenda, it’s best to visit Siloso Beach mid-week and be aware of Singapore school vacations. The ZoukOut dance music festival is in early December; book tickets well in advance.

Perched above Siloso Beach and reached by a treetop skywalk, Fort Siloso is a 19th-century colonial fort with a sad history: when the Japanese invaded during World War II, its guns were facing the wrong way to defend. Inside, enjoy historical scenes, animatronics, and eerie underground tunnels, plus documentaries and slices of WWII history.
