Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre, I-70W exit 259, then 1.5 mi. s., is an 868-acre park laced with hiking trails at the foot of the Rocky Mountains. The red sandstone formations were created 250 to 300 million years ago and gain their color from varying levels of iron oxide. Red Rocks Amphitheatre’s 9,500 seats are flanked on either side by striking 400-foot-high red sandstone formations. The amphitheater is well known as one of the nation’s finest outdoor concert venues. The visitor center has interactive displays about the history of Red Rocks. Concerts and Easter sunrise services are held seasonally. Food is available. Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.
