Ortaköy is calm and quiet in the morning. By the afternoon and evening, Ortaköy becomes much more active. To beat the crowds, arrive earlier in the day. Traffic to Ortaköy can get congested around rush hour from 5pm to 8pm, so if you are arriving in a vehicle, it’s best to set out before or after that time.

To use public transit, take the DT1 or DT2 bus to Ortakoy-Kabatas Erkek Lisesi stop. To reach Ortakoy by water, take a scenic Bosphorus cruise or a public ferry from Eminonu or Kadikoy.

Most Bosphorus cruises depart from the Eminonu, Kabatas, and Kadikoy piers. However, many stop at Ortakoy Pier to pick up passengers. Before looping back, short tours typically pass the Anatolian Fortress (Anadolu Hisari). Longer cruises may travel as far north as Anadolu Kavagi, a neighborhood near the entrance of the Black Sea.
