Olympos Beydaglari National Park

Arslanbucak, Kemer, Antalya

South of Antalya, Beydaglari Coastal National Park has over 74,000 acres (30,000 hectares) of coastal cliffs, beaches, and mountains. Spectacular hiking trails, fascinating archaeological sites, and dramatic views over the Mediterranean make it a popular day trip from Antalya and Kemer.

Visitors come to the national park to hike, climb, and mountain bike, while the coastal cliffs are also a popular spot for paragliding. Scenic hiking trails lead to and around the scattered ruins of the ancient cities of Phaselis, Idyros, and Olympos, also located in the park. The star attraction, though, is the Olympos Cable Car (Olympos Teleferik), which scales the 12,500-foot-high (2,365-meter-high) Tahtali Mountain—the ancient Mount Olympus—which is also the park’s highest peak. From the top, the panoramic views reach from the Mediterranean coast to the Taurus Mountains inland.

  • Olympos Cable Car tours often include hotel pickup and round-trip transport from Antalya or Kemer.

  • There are limited facilities in the national park, so bring everything you need with you if you plan to hike.

  • The Olympos Cable Car is wheelchair-accessible.

Beydaglari Coastal National Park is about a 45-minute drive south of Antalya. Regular buses run to Kemer, the main entry point to the national park, but getting around within the park is easiest with your own transport or by joining a tour.

For hiking and outdoor activities, the best time to visit is in spring or autumn, when the weather is most favorable, but it’s possible to explore the ancient cities all year round. The Olympos Cable Car is also open year-round, and winter views are equally spectacular, with the mountains often covered in snow.

Beydaglari Coastal National Park lies along the Lycian Way, Turkey’s (officially the Republic of Türkiye) first marked long-distance hiking trail. The 335-mile (540-kilometer) trail runs all the way along the coast of ancient Lycia, from Fethiye to Antalya, and takes an average of 29 days to complete. Following the coast and climbing through the Western Taurus Mountains, the final section of the trail winds through the national park, passing the ancient cities, and can be explored on day or multi-day hikes.
