Ocean City Boardwalk

Rent a bike in the morning hours before the crowds come, and pedal along the Ocean City boardwalk, breathing in the sea air and listening to the crashing waves. Or join a food tour that stops at some of the walkway’s most popular eateries for classic shore snacks. Think French fries, ice cream, and popcorn. In the evening, grab dinner at one of the oceanview restaurants or stop at one of the late-night bars for a drink and some live music.

• Bikes are only allowed on the boardwalk during certain times, and pets are only allowed in the off-season.
• The tram runs the length of the boardwalk and costs a small fee for a one-way ride.
• Most boardwalk activity and businesses are found from the inlet to 14th Street. Past 14th Street, it becomes quieter and more residential.

The Ocean City Boardwalk runs from the inlet to 27th Street. You can explore the promenade by tram, bike, or a multi-person Surrey with a fringed canopy. Public buses run frequently along Philadelphia Avenue/Coastal Highway and Baltimore Avenue, about a block away from the boardwalk. Rideshare services and taxis are also readily available.

Most businesses are open during Ocean City’s peak tourism season, which runs from Memorial Day at the end of May to Labor Day at the beginning of September. This is when the weather is the warmest, particularly in July and August. If you’re traveling outside those months, some businesses may be closed or have limited hours.

Located at the southern tip of the boardwalk, Trimper’s is the oldest continuous single-family-run amusement park in the US. Featuring classic rides like bumper cars, games such as Whac-A-Mole and Skee-Ball, and an antique carousel, this is a popular attraction for travelers with young kids or teenagers. You’ll also find plenty of carnival fare here, including cotton candy, popcorn, and hot dogs.
