Ocean Beach Park

Stretching along the Long Island Sound, Ocean Beach Park is considered one of the best beaches in the US. One of only two beaches in New London, Ocean Beach Park offers easy access to the Atlantic Ocean and recreation facilities such as a boardwalk, pool, classic rides, arcade, mini golf, dining, and numerous events.
Spend the day soaking up the sun on the half-mile (0.8 kilometer) stretch of sugar sand beach, build a sand castle, or play in the Atlantic Ocean. For a change of pace, swim in the Olympic-size swimming pool, work out in the health club, or enjoy a nature walk with an observation deck. A spray park, water slides, a carousel, classic rides, mini golf, and an arcade will keep kids and teenagers occupied. Several dining options are available, while special events are held frequently over the summer.

Ocean Park Beach is located at the southern end of New London, Connecticut at 98 Neptune Avenue. Paid parking is available on-site and covers a vehicle with up to five passengers. You can also take a taxi or the Route 13 bus, though there is also a fee for walk-in visitors.
Ocean Beach Park is open from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day. The beach park is popular over summer weekends, and visitors should try to get there earlier to grab a spot on the beach. Special events are held just about every day of the summer season. Check the park’s website for the latest schedule.
In addition to Ocean Beach Park, New London is home to Greens Harbor Beach. North of Ocean Beach Park near central New London, Greens Harbor Beach offers lifeguards over the summer and free street parking. Just west of Ocean Beach Park in the town of Waterford is Waterford Beach, home to a tidal marsh, sand dunes, trails, and volleyball and tennis courts. Also nearby are Rocky Neck State Park and Esker Point Beach.
