Mykonos Cruise Port

Tourlos, Mykonos

The cruise port of Mykonos offers easy access to both the town itself, called Chora, as well as the rest of the island and its sun-drenched beaches. Take time to get a little lost in the town’s maze of charming streets and traditional buildings full of shops, cafés, and restaurants before heading back to the ship or hotel.

Travelers docking at the port of Mykonos can get just about anywhere on the island during a day ashore. Head into town for a walking tour of the historic and photogenic architecture; catch a ferry to explore Delos, a UNESCO World Heritage Site; embark on a 4WD safari around the island; or pick a beach for a day of sunbathing, snorkeling, and swimming in the Mediterranean waters. Popular sites on the island include the windmills, Little Venice, and aptly named Paradise Beach.

  • Mykonos is an island made for walking, so wear comfortable footwear and weather-appropriate clothing.

  • Most tours of Mykonos include significant time outdoors without much shade; be sure to bring a hat and sunscreen, no matter the season.

  • Cobblestones and hills can make some areas of the island a challenge for wheelchairs and strollers; check in advance.

Most large cruise ships dock at the port in Tourlos or anchor in the harbor and tender passengers to the old harbor. Cruise lines typically offer shuttle service from the port to the edge of town, but it’s also possible to ride the public bus or take a water taxi.

The climate of Mykonos makes it a year-round travel destination. To avoid the crowds, plan a trip during the late fall months of September and October.

Most large cruise lines stop in Mykonos on itineraries in the Greek islands. While Greek is the most widely spoken language, English is typically understood. The local currency is the euro, and both cash and credit cards are widely accepted.
