The Morris Thompson Cultural and Visitors Center is the go-to place in Fairbanks for tourist information, maps, and a brief introduction to Alaska Native history and culture. The Morris Thompson Cultural and Visitors Center is located at 101 Dunkel Street in downtown Fairbanks, near the Chena River. Parking is available at the center, which is within walking distance of the Fairbanks Ice Museum and the Moose Antler Arch. The center is also accessible via the blue bus from the downtown transit center.

The center is open daily year-round, from morning to night during the summer months, and morning to early evening in the winter. It often hosts special events and craft workshops, so check the event schedule before visiting.

Kids can check in with the ranger at the Alaska Public Lands Information counter for their own scavenger hunt worksheet—it's fun trying to find the many animals scattered throughout the center’s exhibits. They'll also enjoy the Cultural Connections shows featuring Alaska Native stories, dance, and music, which are held on weekdays during the summer months.
