Mandraki Harbour

Rhodes, Rhodes

In use since ancient times, Mandraki Harbour was reportedly the site of the Colossus of Rhodes. Today, statues of Elafos and Elafina, symbols of the city, mark the entrance to the harbor, which is used by yachts and boats cruising to nearby islands, while a jetty is home to three historic windmills and the Fort of St. Nicholas.

The small size of Mandraki Harbour makes it easy to walk around and see the nearby sites, such as the statues of Elafos and Elafina, the windmills, and the Fort of St. Nicholas. It’s included on certain tours of Rhodes, including walking tours, Segway tours, tours of the Old Town, and full-island tours. Many pleasure cruises also depart from the harbor, including sunset cruises, sailing trips, snorkeling cruises, and cruises to Lindos and Symi Island.

  • Restrooms and showers are available near the marina office.
  • There are two seasonal supermarkets within the harbor area and a New Market nearby.
  • Larger boats dock at the new harbor of Rhodes, located next door.
  • The harbor is largely wheelchair accessible.

The harbor is located within walking distance of Rhodes Old Town. Parking is available onsite. A bus stop connecting to the main towns and beaches of the island is located a short distance away. A 24-hour taxi stand is located across the road from the marina.

Mandraki Harbour can be visited year-round. It’s busiest over the summer, where there are daily boat cruises to Lindos and Symi. Summer weekends are especially popular, when yachts often berth in the second or third row. The in-harbor supermarkets are also open daily over the summer.

Just a short walk away from the harbor is the Medieval City of Rhodes, the oldest continuously inhabited medieval city in Europe. The original fourteenth century walls surround the center. Highlights include the Palace of the Grand Masters, the Avenue of the Knights, the Archaeological Museum, and the ruins of the Temple of Aphrodite, along with numerous cafes, restaurants, and souvenir shops.
