Larvotto Beach

Located along Princess Grace Avenue—for a time one of the world’s most expensive streets—Larvotto Beach (Plage du Larvotto) may be man-made, but it still offers an abundance of turquoise waters, coastal beauty, and an atmosphere that’s hard to rival. Despite its proximity to Monte Carlo and the rest of Monaco’s bustle, the beach maintains a tranquil ambiance and prime swimming conditions. Jellyfish nets and lifeguards make it safe to take a dip, while upscale beach clubs offer a more luxurious (and costly) way to experience Larvotto’s charms.

Larvotto Beach can be glimpsed during helicopter tours of the Riviera and on personalized Monaco tours; given its convenient location, it’s also simple to explore independently.

• Because Larvotto Beach is covered in fine gravel, it’s recommended to bring along a towel and a pair of flip-flops or sandals to ensure your comfort.

• As with other stretches of seafront along the Riviera, topless sunbathing is permitted.

• Though the beach is free to the public, loungers and umbrellas are an additional expense (or can be brought independently).

• The beach has a playground, beach volleyball courts, and elegant beach clubs.

The beach is located roughly a 30-minute walk away from Monaco’s main train station and a 15-minute walk from Monte Carlo. Alternatively, it can be reached by taxi or by bicycle.

Larvotto Beach is beautiful to visit throughout the year, though it’s at its most crowded during the summer high season. If you wish to avoid the crowds, it’s worth making the effort to get there early in the morning to stake out your spot.
