The Juneau Cruise Port sits right alongside the historic downtown area, within walking distance of seafood restaurants and frontier-themed shops. There’s plenty to see and do right off the boat in the state capital, but the port also serves as a jumping-off point for excursions to Mendenhall Glacier and the Alaskan wilderness.
After docking at the busy Juneau Cruise Port, popular excursion options combine a city tour of the former mining town with a trip to the nearby Mendenhall Glacier; whale-watching tours in scenic Auke Bay; and visits to Pack Creek Brown Bear Viewing Area, which protects the highest concentration of brown bears on the planet. Alternatively, spend your time in port white-water rafting or ziplining on Douglas Island, gold mining, or enjoying traditional Alaskan salmon bakes.
There are three cruise terminals at the Juneau Cruise Port: Marine Park, Ferry Terminal, and S. Franklin Dock.

Cruise ships dock at three different areas, all within walking distance of downtown Juneau. Larger ships tend to dock near South Franklin Street, while smaller vessels dock next to the floatplanes. A third dock sits at the south end of town. From each dock, taxis are plentiful and most shore excursions and tours offer port pickup and drop-off.
Juneau averages 220 days of rain each year, so be sure to dress for the weather. The official currency is the US dollar, and there are ATMs and banks located throughout town. Alaska has almost two dozen co-official state languages, including English, Inupiaq, Tanana, and Tsimshian.
