Jockey's Ridge State Park, off the US 158 bypass at 300 W. Carolista Dr., contains some of the highest sand dunes on the East Coast. More than 100 feet high, Jockey's Ridge is a popular takeoff point for hang gliders. Hang gliding and sandboarding permits can be obtained at the park office. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
