Historic Bethabara Park

Historic Bethabara Park, on Bethabara Rd., 3 mi. n.w. off University Pkwy., is the 1753 site of the first Moravian settlement in the state. The grounds include the 1788 Gemeinhaus, or church; the 1782 Krause-Butner Potter's House; the 1803 Brewers House; excavations of 40 original foundations; a reconstructed 1756 fort in its original trench; the reconstructed 1759 community gardens; and a visitor center. The park has more than 20 miles of nature and history trails. Activities include a Celtic Festival in May, an Independence Day celebration and an Apple Festival in September. Guided tours are available. Picnicking is permitted.
