Glenwood Hot Springs

401 N. River St., Glenwood Springs, CO, 81601

Glenwood Hot Springs is off I-70 exit 116 to 401 N. Measuring 405 feet long, the resort is home to the world’s largest known outdoor thermal pool. The pool’s mineral-rich waters come from Yampah Spring, once considered sacred by the Ute Indians (Yampah means “big medicine”). By the late 19th century the springs had been developed into a resort containing a hot springs pool, bath house and a lodge, which soon became a popular getaway for movie stars, American presidents and other dignitaries. The Sopris Splash Zone is the newest addition to the resort. The family-friendly aquatic area features a fast-moving adventure river ride, an interactive children’s play area and a splash pad fountain that becomes a show fountain at night. The hot springs pool features exercise lap lanes and a diving board, and is maintained at 93 degrees Fahrenheit. The smaller therapy pool is 104 degrees Fahrenheit and lined with steps and benches for comfortable soaking. An athletic club and spa also are offered. Lockers, towels and bathing suits are available for a small fee. Food is available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
