Gilcrease Museum is off US 64/SR 51 at 1400 N. Gilcrease Museum Rd. The museum is known for its comprehensive collection of art of the American West, including works by Albert Bierstadt, Thomas Moran, Frederic Remington and Charles Russell. The Helmerich Center for American Research at Gilcrease Museum houses the Gilcrease Library and Archive containing more than 100,000 rare books, documents, maps and unpublished works. Paintings, drawings, prints and sculpture by more than 400 artists from the 18th century to the present are included in the museum's collection. Artists include John James Audubon, John Singleton Copley, Winslow Homer, John Singer Sargent, James McNeill Whistler and N.C. Wyeth. A collection of Native American art and artifacts, along with historical manuscripts, documents and maps also is featured. Anthropological and archeological collections feature artifacts from North, Central and South American cultures.
