Eleuthera Lighthouse Beach

Eleuthera island, Bahamas

Lighthouse Beach is situated at the southernmost point of Eleuthera island in The Bahamas, offering access to both the Exuma Sound and the Atlantic Ocean. As the new home of Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, the beach is accessible by cruise ship with public access limited. At the port of call, cruise passengers can enjoy cabanas, kid-friendly attractions, and adults-only areas.

Lighthouse Beach is now the location of Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, a port of call and private beach destination for the company’s cruise line. It features a Bahamian-inspired, interactive water play area with slides, a gaming pavilion, ball pit, and a volleyball court, as well as dining options and bars for cruise ship passengers. Visitors will also experience the usual encounters with Disney characters. Local residents are allowed access to the beach when ships are in port and during special community days.

  • Disney offers shore excursions to other areas on Eleuthera.

  • Golf carts can be reserved for people with accessibility issues.

  • The retail shop sells locally made gifts, regional art, and other keepsakes and souvenirs.

As part of Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, Lighthouse Beach is accessible via cruise ship on Bahamas and Caribbean itineraries. The port of call boasts its own pier. Travelers report that the pier walk takes about 10-15 minutes and the tram ride to the main beach is another 10-15 minutes.

Disney runs multi-night cruises from Florida to Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point. Travelers recommend disembarking from the ship as early as possible to secure a good spot on the beach. Also, allow plenty of time to get back to the ship by your scheduled departure time. Overall, the most popular time to visit Eleuthera is December through April.

There are several pink sand beaches on Eleuthera, including French Leave Beach. Located on the Atlantic side of the island, French Leave boasts soft pink sand, but since it’s on the ocean side, the waves can be rough. It’s a popular spot for tourists thanks to its proximity to the Governor's Harbour settlement.
