Denver Botanic Gardens, 1007 York St. between Cheesman and Congress parks, covers 24 acres with 50 formal gardens that include rare and endangered plants from around the world. Also featured are plants native to Colorado, those brought to the state by pioneers, Great Plains grasses and wildflowers, bristlecone and ponderosa pines, an outstanding orchid collection and the Monet Pool, with flowers and water lilies inspired by the French Impressionist. Rock alpine, herb, romantic and Asian gardens also are displayed. The domed Boettcher Memorial Tropical Conservatory contains thousands of tropical and subtropical plants. A myriad of holiday lights illuminate the gardens during Blossoms of Light in December. The gardens also offers a variety of guided tours. Note: Guests are highly encouraged to reserve timed tickets in advance; the gardens are open with limited capacity. Guided tours are available. Food is available.
