Clematis Street

Clematis Street, West Palm Beach, FL

Clematis Street is a roadway acting as a “Main Street” of downtown West Palm Beach. A commercial district since the 1890s, Clematis Street is both the historical heart and lively hub of the city. Running west to east, the street features shopping, dining, entertainment venues, and views of the Intercoastal Waterway.

Palm Beach might have the beaches, but when it comes to nightlife, even the islanders are lured over to lively Clematis Street. Hotel staff and locals alike will recommend you pencil in dinner reservations at one of the many notable restaurants, but there’s no reason to wait until sunset. From antique stores and art galleries to historical landmarks and eclectic architecture, Clematis shows its best self no matter the time of day or night.

  • Twelve historical landmarks line Clematis Street, offering a glimpse into the street’s past.

  • Holiday Park caps the east end of Clematis Street and regularly features concerts, festivals, and other events.

  • Roxy’s, Pub, O’Shea’s Irish Pub, and Respectable Street are long-time local favorite watering holes.

  • Clematis Street’s high foot traffic makes it a relatively safe place regardless of the time of day, though it’s recommended to remain close to this hub and around The Square when enjoying the nightlife.

Clematis Street is centrally located in downtown West Palm Beach, just one block north of the train station. It’s a 10-minute drive from PBI airport and only minutes from Palm Beach. The PalmTran 104 bus stop is right in the heart of the street while there are multiple parking garages for visitors with their own vehicles. Rideshares and taxis are a favorite method of transportation due to the street’s lively bar scene.

Many of the bars, restaurants, and stores along Clematis street have operating hours stretching from the early afternoon until well after midnight. Cafe lovers and antique collectors will enjoy fewer crowds when shopping in the daytime while the moonlight tends to bring more of a crowd. Allow a few extra minutes to find parking when visiting for dinner or an evening show.

While antiques and alcohol-fueled activities like party bike tours keep the adults busy, the littlest of visitors can wet their whistles at the Clematis Splash Pad. Located near the intercoastal waterfront, this fountain feature is a safe place for children to play. Big Bro Pizzeria and Sloan’s ice cream shop are next door, creating an enticing afternoon experience for kids and the kid-at-heart.
