Calafate Mountain Park is located on Mt Huyliche, 9 miles (15 kilometers) south of El Calafate in Patagonia. Get there by shuttle bus and cable car from the town.
The best time to visit the park depends on what activities you’d like to participate in. Winter activities are generally available from June to September, while summer activities take over after the snow melts (October to March).
El Calafate makes an excellent base for all sorts of outdoor adventures far beyond the mountain park. Travelers can trek across the Perito Moreno Glacier, kayak through the Upsala Channel, go off-roading in Los Glaciares National Park, or hike through La Leona Petrified Forest.
