Buena Vista Museum of Natural History and Science is at 2018 Chester Ave. Occupying a two-story building downtown, the museum features a variety of Asian, African and North American mounted animals including an antelope, baboon, kangaroo, leopard, lion, ostrich, tiger and zebra. Visitors also can see shark jaws, shark teeth and marine mammal fossils recovered in the area, which was once under water, as well as dinosaur fossils. Of interest is a reconstructed Yokuts Indian family dwelling. Arrowheads, trading beads and baskets are displayed, and the discovery center features interactive children's activities. Time: Allow 45 minutes minimum.
