Bodie State Historic Park
SR 270 & Bodie Rd., Bridgeport, CA, 93517
Bodie State Historic Park, reached via SR 270 (last 3 mi. unpaved), is more than 1,000 acres embracing the ghost town of Bodie, one of the most lawless gold-mining camps in the West. The 170 buildings that remain are preserved in a state of arrested decay; they will not be restored, but are prevented from decaying further. The park often is inaccessible by automobile in winter. Tours and talks are offered daily in summer. Note: Smoking is restricted to the parking lot. Guided tours are available. Pet friendly (call for restrictions/fees.).
