Anthony Quinn Bay, named after the actor who filmed The Guns of Navarone on Rhodes in 1961, is one of the most popular spots on the island for sun seekers. This is one of Rhodes’ most undeniably picturesque beaches, perfect for swimming, snorkeling, sunbathing, or simply watching the sunset. Many boat tours and shore excursions make a swimming stop at the bay, along with Kallithea Springs and Afandou Beach, the longest beach on the island. Options range from a laid-back sail aboard a traditional wooden ship with time for snorkeling to a day aboard a party boat, complete with champagne, beer, and music on full blast.

Anthony Quinn purchased the bay and beach from the Greek state for a nominal sum, a gift to him for putting the island on the map. Later, however, as Quinn progressed with plans to transform the space into an arts and film center, the ‘gift’ was taken away, causing friction between the actor and his beloved second home.
