Anne’s Beach

FL

Anne’s Beach was named for a local environmentalist, Anne Eaton, who lived in the Florida Keys. Previously, it was called Islamorada Public Beach. In 2017, Hurricane Irma damaged Anne’s Beach. It remained closed until 2019, when a new bathroom, boardwalk, pavilions, and parking lots were built. Today, it’s one of the most popular beaches in the Florida Keys.

One hallmark of Anne’s Beach is its sandy shoreline, a rarity among many Florida Keys’ beaches. The water is shallow and waveless—ideal for little ones and pets. There are no lifeguards. The paved parking area and boardwalk make it easier to reach for those who need accessibility assistance. Anne’s Beach isn’t the traditional “beach day,” but it's a lovely stop off of Overseas Highway.

  • Dogs are permitted but must be leashed.
  • You'll find public restrooms in the north parking lot, but no showers.
  • Boating and fishing are not allowed.

Anne’s Beach is at the southern tip of Islamorada in the Florida Keys. It’s only accessible via car on the Overseas Highway. Take the Overseas Highway, also called US Highway 1, from Miami and head south towards the Florida Keys. You’ll reach Anne’s Beach at the end of Islamorada, just before Channel No. 2 Bridge and the Highway Piers Historical Marker.

Anne’s Beach has two parking lots: one at the north end and one at the south. It’s a popular area for a driving break, so allow yourself some time to find parking and enjoy the area. Anne’s Beach is open from sunrise to sunset, though you may see visitors on the beach after sunset.

Anne’s Beach is a small public park used mainly for shallow wading and picnics. If parking is full, drive a little farther south and park at the Florida Keys Overseas Highway Trail parking lot. While it doesn’t have tables or a beach, you can walk and fish from the trail.
