As a shopping enthusiast, visiting the Amouage Factory is an essential addition to your Arabian shopping excursions. At the factory, you will witness the meticulous handcrafting of fragrances, with a guide providing an informative tour. You may even choose to take home a bottle of your own. In addition, if you're on a shopping and souq tour, you'll have the opportunity to visit two contemporary shopping centers before culminating your journey at the largest and most popular bazaar in Oman: the Muttrah Souq. There is a large parking space in front of the factory free for visitors.
As part of a visit, there is a 30-minute guided tour of the factory included, where a guide walks visitors through the process of making the perfumes from concept to retail.
There is also a special boutique section to sample and purchase exclusive perfumes.
Open from Sunday to Thursday, with visits by appointment only, which can be booked online or by phone.
The world-renowned Amouage perfumery is easily located right near the Oman International Airport. The most efficient mode of transport to reach the factory would be by taxi, from either the airport or your hotel. There's no dedicated bus stop for the perfume factory, but you could take one of the many local buses that stop at Burj Al Sahwa or Al Sahwa Public Garden, both a 15-minute walk away.
You should plan your trip to Muscat between November and March. During this time, the weather is cooler and milder, making it perfect for sightseeing without the extreme heat of summer. Average temperatures tend to be around 75°F (24°C) in winter. On the other hand, temperatures soar over 100°F (38°C) in summer, so visiting indoor attractions such as this offers a nice escape.
